Description

General Purpose

Serves customers by displaying, promoting and tagging merchandise; receiving and processing payments. Obtains payment for goods by itemizing and totaling customer's purchasing. To assist customers in finding and purchasing the required merchandise in a retail environment. To encourage customers to purchase products. Obtain or receive merchandise, total bills, accept payment, and make change for customers in retail store by performing the following duties.

 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Assist in creating a pleasant and hospitable work environment and maintaining good customer relationships
  • Provide information about the park and services available
  • Find out the customer's needs
  • Ensuring all products in the Pro Shop, Ticket Center, and Trailer are kept labeled with price tags and are displayed in an eye-appealing manner.
  • Describe a product's features/benefits and make suggestions and encourage upsells of purchase of products
  • Answer customer queries regarding the store and the merchandise
  • Verifying that customers are old enough to make age-restricted purchases.
  • Selling store rewards programs such as memberships
  • Using scanners and POS cash registers to ring up purchases.
  • Receive and process cash, check and charge/credit payments, provide change and receipts
  • Counting the money in the register at the beginning and end of a shift, and ensuring that it balances correctly (2 people)
  • Promoting ongoing sales, and ensuring that customers are familiar with exchange policies
  • Assist in cleaning and general maintenance of store property
  • Stamp, mark or tag price on merchandise
  • Itemize and total price and tax on merchandise purchased by customer to determine bill using POS
  • Stay current with sales prices
  • Immediately report theft and customer complaints to immediate supervisor.
  • Stock shelves, racks, cases, bins, counters or tables with merchandise. Notify immediate supervisor when merchandize is running low.
  • Set up advertising display or arrange merchandise on counters or tables to attract customers and promote sales
  • Keep area and merchandise tidy
  • Assist in taking stock inventory or examine merchandise to identify items to be recorded or replenished
  • Assisting in submitting requisition of new stock
  • Comply with the Employee Manual and other established standards, policies, and directives

Education and Training

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and processes
  • Knowledge of sales principles
  • Relevant product knowledge and training
  • Experience in a retail, customer service or sales environment
  • Basic business administration knowledge

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • While performing the duties of the job, you are regularly required to interact with the general public, Team Members, and children of various ages.
  • You will be standing, walking, using hands and fingers to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
  • You are is occasionally required to, sit, climb, balance or stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • You are is regularly required to lift up to 10 pounds and on occasion up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • You will be navigating over uneven terrain with hills, holes and rocks.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • While performing the duties of this job you are regularly exposed to loud music, horns, bells, whistles, and other noise projected by various equipment operating at the company.
  • You will be exposed to outside weather conditions.
  • To be aware of existing accident prevention and safe work practice programs and to work in a manner free from unsafe acts and to create a safe environment in which others may work.

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • General knowledge of computers including word processing, graphics, scheduling, and spreadsheet applications.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups, guests, Team Members, and managers of the organization.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to handle and count currency, add, subtract, and multiply simple math.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, sales tax, and percentages.

 

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or scheduled form.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • CPR preferred, but not required.
